Hot Hatha

HotHatha 60/90

Hatha Yoga is a system of physical postures or asanas. The higher purpose of Hatha is to purify the body, giving one awareness and control over its internal states. The process renders the body fit for meditation.

Hot Hatha includes the teachings Kim acquired in India. The class begins with Pranayama deep breathing and ends with a five minute savasana and closing mantra. Through the practice of Surya Namaskaras- sun salutations- as handed down by the enlightened sages of the vedic age and taught by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, the body is prepared for the deeper Hatha postures to follow.

The 12 asanas included in Surya Namaskara are an effective way of loosening up, stretching, massaging and toning all joints, muscles and internal organs ofthe body. It is in fact a complete Sadhana – practice – on its own.

Surya Namaskara generates Prana, life force energy. Its performance in a steady rhythmic sequence reflects the rhythms of the universe, the 24 hours in a day, the 12 zodiac phases of the year and the biorhythms of the body. It stimulates and balances all the systems of the body.

After sun salutations, several standing and floor postures are practiced to move deeper into the body with special emphasis always given to strengthening of the spine.

The class is suitable for both beginners and more advanced practitioners.

HotHatha is offered in a 60 minute and 90 minute format and varies according to teacher.
